A fire above a department store in Bath is being treated as arson, police have said.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service said the fire in the communal stairwell to flats above Jolly's, in Milsom Street, was thought to be "deliberate".

The shop was evacuated before fire crews arrived at about 15:10 BST but no-one was injured.

Avon and Somerset Police said they were treating the blaze as "suspicious and a case of arson endangering life".

The fire in the stairwell was extinguished by a sprinkler system.
