Bridgwater man accused of child sex offences

A 66-year-old man has been accused of sexual offences against children some dating back nearly 25 years.

Leonard Cook, from Bridgwater, is accused of 29 offences, including rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault and administering a poison or noxious substance with intent.

Avon and Somerset Police said the charges relate to nine victims who were all aged between five and 11 years old.

Mr Cook is due to appear at Taunton Crown Court later.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between the early 1990s and the present day.
