A man has been charged after a retired couple's rental property was turned into a "sophisticated" cannabis factory.

The owners of the house, in Twerton, Bath, have said they were "devastated" by the discovery.

Avon and Somerset Police said they found lights, heaters and fans in two bedrooms and an attic.

They uncovered 230 cannabis plants, worth £100,000, at the Landseer Road house.

Its owners, who have asked not to be named, estimated the cost of repairing the damage and lost rental income would total about £10,000.

The house's power supply had also been bypassed.

A 19-year-old man had been arrested and charged with producing cannabis and abstracting electricity, police said.
