A man and woman have been charged over the death of an 84-year-old man who was struck on a road in Somerset.

David Hick, 84, was found with head injuries in Cole Road, Bruton, on 14 October, and later died.

Robert Finlay, 47 and Felicity Wheeler, 31, both of Rickhayes, Wincanton, will appear at South Somerset Magistrates' Court on 20 January.

The Crown Prosecution Service said a third person would also face a charge of perverting the course of justice.

Mr Finlay is charged with causing death by careless driving, failing to stop after a road accident, conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and failing to report a road traffic collision.

Ms Wheeler has been charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, police said.
