Taunton police appeal for rape letter woman to come forward

A rape victim who wrote two anonymous letters to the police has been urged to come forward.

In two letters, sent in the past two years, the woman wrote that she was raped in Taunton in 1968.

She said in the letters that she was walking home when she was offered a lift, driven to a quiet location and attacked.

Following the initial letters police have now eliminated a man from Truro, Cornwall, from their inquiry.
