Puriton housing estate plans cause concern among residents

Concerns have been raised by residents in a Somerset village over plans to build a new housing estate.

Taylor Wimpey hopes to build up to 67 homes off Riverton Road in Puriton and is in the process of preparing a formal planning application.

Residents said the proposed development would worsen traffic congestion between the M5 and Bridgwater and would also be close to a planned business park.

The developer said the estate would provide much-needed affordable housing.
