Bridgwater town centre post office move cancelled

The central post office in a Somerset town will not now be moved to the outskirts following a consultation.

The current branch in Bridgwater is based in a temporary building in Northgate after the permanent branch at Angel Place closed in September 2011.

Post Office Ltd wanted to put a new permanent branch in Sainsbury's, a mile-and-a-half from the town centre.

A spokesman said following a public consultation it was decided not to move the branch to the new location.

He said the firm would continue to look for a "suitable" new location and thanked the local community for their feedback.
