A student who fell to her death from a warehouse in Bath after a night out died as a result of misadventure, a coroner has ruled.

Vanessa Clarke, 23, fell 20ft (6m) onto the concrete floor of the Travis Perkins building on Lower Bristol Road in May.

Miss Clarke, a third-year computer science student at the University of Bath, was also a Bath Jets cheerleader.

The hearing was told she died almost instantly from fatal head injuries.

The inquest, at Flax Bourton Coroner's Court, heard that Miss Clarke and a friend were walking home from the city centre when they decided to climb on the roof of the building to get a better view of the river.

The roof gave way and Miss Clarke, who grew up near Helston, Cornwall, fell 20ft onto a concrete floor.

Tributes, including flowers and cheerleading vests, were left on railings close to the site after her death.
