Somerset youth project receives £500,000 lottery cash boost

A charity in Somerset which helps unemployed and homeless young people find work and housing has received a £500,000 grant from a Lottery fund.

The Youth Volunteering Network has trialled the service in Yeovil offering practical support and advice to people between the ages of 16 and 25.

Now with the aid of the money from the Big Lottery Fund, it plans to roll the project out across the county.

The group's Nick Phillips, said the grant was "absolutely fantastic news."

He added: "The difference that this funding will make to the lives of young people in Somerset will be immense."
