Man stuck waist-deep in River Brue mud rescued

A man has been rescued from a river in Somerset after getting stuck waist-deep in mud.

Burnham-on-Sea lifeboat was called to the River Brue, near Apex park in Highbridge at 16:20 GMT on Tuesday.

Lifeboat operations manager Ricky Holmes said: "This was a close call and our volunteers demonstrated excellent seamanship skills."

The lifeboat had to navigate through low water levels as the tidal flow had not reached the area where the man was.
