Visiting restrictions at Taunton hospital to fight bug

A hospital in Somerset is restricting visitors to help keep wards free of the nororvirus winter vomiting bug.

Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton is asking patients to nominate two named visitors with times limited to between 1400 and 1600 and 1800 and 2000 BST.

Children will also be excluded - although exceptions will be made for patients' own children.

The hospital said infection rates "reduced considerably" during similar restrictions last year.

Martine Price, from the hospital, said: "Currently we have no norovirus at Musgrove Park.

"There is however evidence of diarrhoea and vomiting bugs in the community so we are taking this action to ensure that we stay free of these at Musgrove.

"We need everybody's help to ensure that the hospital is not affected."
