Teenager dies after Shrewsbury stabbing

A 16-year-old boy who was stabbed in a Shrewsbury street has died, sparking a murder investigation.

The teenager was found in Wayford Close in Meole Brace at about 21:45 BST on Monday. He was taken to hospital and died at about 06:30 BST on Thursday.

Three people arrested on Wednesday have been released on police bail. West Mercia Police has not said what they were held on suspicion of.

The force has said it was "thought to be a targeted attack".

It had no reason to believe there was any wider threat to the community, it added.

Det Ch Insp Paul Moxley said: "This is an extremely tragic incident and my thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family who are being fully supported by officers during this difficult time."
