Five flood warnings remain in place for Shropshire after rainfall caused the River Severn to rise.

The warnings remain in place for the Severn at the Showground and Quarry in Shrewsbury, where several roads could flood, the Environment Agency said.

Warnings also remain for Ironbridge and Jackfield, Quatford, Hampton Loade and Highley.

Five other warnings which were in place for the county following heavy rainfall have been downgraded or lifted.

The warning at Bridgnorth, where the Severn recorded its highest measurement of 2015 on Thursday, has been downgraded to a flood alert.

Flood barriers have in place at Ironbridge and around Frankwell car park and Theatre Severn in Shrewsbury.
