A reduced weekend parking tariff has been introduced in Shrewsbury town centre.

Motorists can now pay £1 for an all-day stay in council and privately-owned car parks in the town on Sundays.

Businesses and visitors said they wanted a "simpler, cheaper" system, Shrewsbury Business Improvement District (BID) said.

It is hoped the new fee will entice more visitors to the town centre at weekends.

The new £1 rate is available at Abbey Foregate, Raven Meadows multi storey, St Julian's Friars, Frankwell main car park and an NCP on Wyle Cop and several short-stay car parks.
