Shropshire rural communities in broadband roll-out

Eighteen communities are to get high-speed broadband this spring in a scheme to help rural people in Shropshire.

The council said 93% of homes and businesses in its area would have access to fibre broadband by the end of spring 2016.

It said there were 142,000 premises in Shropshire and about half of those would be connected under the Connecting Shropshire rural broadband scheme.

The £24.6m project is funded by the government, Shropshire Council and BT.

The 18 places announced in the latest phase are: Alberbury, Aston on Clun, Boningale, Clungunford, Cosford, Cross Lane Head, Halfway House, Little Brampton, Ploxgreen, Pontesford, Purslow, Quatford, Snailbeach, Stoke St. Milborough, Upton Magna, Westbury, Withington and Yockleton.
