A woman was spotted kneeling near the spot where a suspected hit-and-run victim was killed, police say.

Arnold Higgins, 19, was discovered on the verge by the side of the A529, near Market Drayton, Shropshire, on 8 November.

A post-mortem examination revealed injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

Police said several witnesses had come forward and officers were keen to hear from a woman seen in the area.

PC Dave Williams said witnesses had reported seeing two vehicles stationary near the scene at 17:35 GMT on 7 November.

"One of the vehicles was a metallic blue Ford Focus thought to be about 10 years old. The other was possibly a dark-coloured Suzuki Jimney type vehicle," he said.

"A female was seen kneeling on the verge, described as being in her late teens or early twenties."

Officers believe Mr Higgins, of Sycamore Way in Market Drayton, was hit as he walked home from his job at a farm in Adderley late on 7 November.
