The Princess Royal has been officially installed as the new chancellor at Shropshire's only university.

Princess Anne met students and staff at Harper Adams University in Newport, and her installation as chancellor was relayed on a screen.

Students study mainly agricultural and rural courses. This year 96% of graduates found jobs within six months.

It awarded degrees when it was Harper Adams University College before it became a full university last December.

Speaking about the figures, vice chancellor Dr David Llewellyn said: "I think there's a pull from industry to be honest because they want highly qualified and experienced people.

"There aren't that many agricultural students around in the university sector in the UK."
