Power supplies lost to 200 Shropshire customers

More than 200 customers have been without power in Shropshire.

Western Power Distribution said there was an underground cable fault but it did not know if this was caused by the weather.

The majority of the 209 customers affected had supplies restored within an hour, the company said.

There are five flood alerts in the area on the Lower Teme, Upper Teme, River Severn, Severn Vyrnwy Confluence and Rea Brook and Cound Brook.

A tree has also fallen down on Buildwas Bank.

Western Power Distribution said it was working to restore supplies to the remaining customers as soon as possible and apologised for any inconvenience.

Power was lost at about 05:40 GMT.
