Beech House Canal Bridge reopens three weeks early

A bridge over the Shropshire Union Canal has reopened three weeks earlier than planned.

The Beech House Canal Bridge at Ellesmere was closed on 1 July for nine weeks for essential safety work.

Shropshire Council said it was able to reopen the bridge on Friday under traffic light control while the rest of the work is carried out.

The canal is due to be closed for five weeks in January for work to be carried out on the underside of the bridge.
