Bridgnorth speeding motorists targeted on Mill Street

A mobile speed enforcement site is to be created along a busy road in Shropshire, following concerns from residents about speeding motorists.

West Mercia Safer Roads Partnership will launch the site on Mill Street, Bridgnorth, later this month.

The partnership said over 40% of the traffic it had recorded was travelling in excess of the 30mph speed limit with 15% hitting speeds of over 39mph.

A spokeswoman hoped the site would "reduce vehicle speeds significantly".

Anna Higgins, from the partnership, said: "With a popular park and a children's playground on Mill Street, residents are understandably concerned about the excessive speed of some vehicles in an area with a high number of pedestrians.

"We hope the new speed enforcement site will change driver behaviour and slow traffic down, therefore improving the safety of the road for all those who use it."
