Events mark historic Newport building

A weekend of events is being planned to celebrate one of a town's few remaining timber-framed buildings.

There will be historical re-enactments, a banquet and a fun fair on High Street, Newport, Shropshire, to mark 525 years of the Guildhall.

The building will get a new plaque after historians discovered the existing one was about 150 years out.

The May Bank Holiday festivities have been organised by local historian Rodney Pitt.
