Bug leads to visiting restrictions at Princess Royal Hospital

Visitors have been banned from some wards at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford after an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug norovrius.

People are asked not to visit wards four, 10, 15 and 16.

A spokesperson said anyone who wanted to visit is should contact the wards.

Dr Patricia O'Neill from the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust said: "If we continue to see a rise in cases then we will need to consider closing the hospital to visitors."

It is thought up to 30 patients have contracted the bug.

Ms O'Neill said: "We are still seeing people visiting who are symptomatic or just recovering from diarrhoea and or vomiting and that has led to led to new cases.

"People have to be responsible, if you have had symptoms within the last 48 hours then please do not visit."
