Cyclist dies in Craven Arms crash

A cyclist has died and a man has been seriously injured in a road collision in south Shropshire.

West Mercia Police said the collision involving "several vehicles" happened at about 08:15 BST on the Corvedale Road, near Craven Arms.

The cyclist, a man, died at the scene and the other is thought to have been trying to help him, a spokesman said.

The injured man was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with a suspected broken leg.

The road has been closed from Craven Arms and the Diddlebury turn and diversions put in place.

A police spokesperson said: "It is believed he was cycling along the Corvedale Road, Craven Arms towards Diddlebury."

Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward, particularly drivers who might have been in the area at the time.
