Ismaaeel Rehman murder inquiry : Three held over Dawley attack
Three men from Shropshire have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with an attack in 2009.
Ismaaeel Rehman, from Dudley in the West Midlands, received serious head injuries in an assault in Powis Place, Dawley, Shropshire, in July 2009.
Due to the attack 22-year-old Mr Rehman developed health issues and died on New Year's Day in 2011, police said.
Three men were arrested in Telford earlier over the death, and two women were held on suspicion of perjury.
Det Ch Insp Neil Jamieson, of West Mercia Police, said several men were arrested at the time of the assault but no assault charges were ever brought.
Officers re-opened the case and classified it as a murder investigation when medical analysis established a link between Mr Rehman's death and his health problems stemming from the attack on 16/17 July, 2009.
