Brian Woodmass admits Oswestry partner's manslaughter

A 59-year-old handyman has admitted killing his partner at their home in Shropshire.

The body of 45-year-old Jill Louise Nevitt was found at her home in Orchard Street, Oswestry, on 14 December 2010.

In June her partner Brian Woodmass pleaded not guilty to murder. Earlier he pleaded guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility.

Sentencing has been adjourned until next month at Stafford Crown Court to allow further psychiatric assessments.

The court heard on Monday that three psychiatric assessments had already been carried out on Woodmass.

The trial judge accepted it was not in the interests of justice to proceed with a murder trial and ordered further psychiatric reports to assess his level of risk.

Sentencing was adjourned until 22 December.
