Shropshire Council faces £10k bill for street light repairs

Repairing street lights on a Shrewsbury housing estate could cost about £10,000 according to Shropshire Council.

It said 25 lights on Field Crescent, Moston Road and Allerton Road were no longer working after suspected vandalism.

Doors on some of the units have been forced open and fuse carriers removed.

Shropshire Council said it was working with the distribution network operator to repair the damage, but was unsure how long it would take.

Local resident Philip Davies, who is in his 70s, said: "You get used to having the lights there.

"Now you've got to stop and see where you're putting your feet. I've got an artificial hip and if I go over it would be very uncomfortable."
