Crimewatch appeal over Alveley burglary

CCTV footage of two men trying to break into a Shropshire home will be featured on the BBC's Crimewatch programme.

Police said the film showed the men attempting to force open a window at a house in Alveley, near Bridgnorth, last August.

The occupants were away on holiday and returned to find a downstairs window had been tampered with.

The men fled the premises empty handed when an alarm was activated as they tried to jemmy the window, police said.

Det Con Jason Whelan, from West Mercia Police, said: "We have made extensive inquiries but so far have been unable to establish their identity."

He said the men may come from the Bridgnorth area, or further afield such as the West Midlands.

Crimewatch is on BBC1 at 2100 GMT on Wednesday.
