Alert as River Severn levels due to peak

A Shropshire car park has remained closed as river levels are expected to rise.

Shropshire Council shut Frankwell car park in Shrewsbury, next to the River Severn, after the Environment Agency issued a flood alert.

The agency said peak levels were expected on the river in Shrewsbury overnight.

A council spokesman said motorists should use other long-stay car parks or use the park-and-ride system.
