Makita power tool firm in Telford creates 60 jobs

Sixty jobs are being created at a Shropshire manufacturing firm with plans for a further 50 new posts in the coming months, bosses say.

Makita Manufacturing, which makes and exports power tools, said it was expanding its base in Telford.

The firm said it had three times as many orders this year compared to January last year. Up to 90% of its business is through exports.

Paul Harris, operations director, said they hoped to take on 10 people a week.

"We want to get them in, train them up and get them settled," he said.

"We need the right staff that can assemble and manufacture the tools."

About 470 staff currently work at the site in Hortonwood, Telford, he added.
