Students plea for Shrewsbury College campus birthday

A Shropshire college has appealed to former students to help it celebrate the 50th birthday of a campus.

Shrewsbury College of Arts & Technology said it was hoping for photographs of its early days at the London Road campus, built in 1961.

Its archives include a 16mm film of Princess Alexandra performing the opening ceremony.

The college said it was in the midst of a £3m refurbishment to a technology block.

Principal Greg Molan said: "All former students are very welcome to get in touch.

"But we would particularly like to hear from people going back to our early days at London Road.

"The building of our London Road campus was a major event for Shrewsbury and it gave the town a large, modern Further Education college that has served it well for half a century."
