Bid to create allotments in Ellesmere

A campaign has started to create allotments in a Shropshire town.

Resident Jane Farncombe said more than 25 people were interested in having allotments in Ellesmere and landowners had been approached.

Mayor Patricia McLaughlin said: "The town council has no land that is suitable for allotments and never has had."

She added that the authority was working with the allotment group to try to find something.

Ms Farncombe said: "I think we'll make do with whatever we're offered.

"All the land that does look desirable is actually owned by private landowners."
