Firefighters who have battled a large barn fire for 24 hours in Shropshire say it is under control.

About 100 tonnes of compost were on fire at Vital Earth Ltd, Sutton-Upon-Tern, near Market Drayton. It is the second fire at the site this week.

Incident commander Sean Baker said at one point it was a "severe fire" and about 30 firefighters had been to the scene throughout the night and day.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

He said the 100m (328ft) long barn contained material in four separate bays which was on fire.

Mr Baker said: "The plant itself recycles green waste, so it is a build-up of green waste which is actually on fire."
