A seven-year-old girl was attacked by a dog in a park in Oxford.

She was bitten on the leg on Monday at 13:45 BST in a park on Valentia Road and taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The dog was described as a Staffordshire bull terrier. Its owner left the scene afterwards.

Police want to speak a white man in his late 40s to early 50s, about 5ft 10ins, slim, with collar-length greying brown hair.

He was wearing khaki shorts and was carrying a dark rucksack and left the scene of the attack.

The girl is currently still being treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
