Fire rips through thatched roofs in Compton Beauchamp

A thatched cottage in Oxfordshire has been wrecked in a blaze that was tackled by 60 firefighters.

The fire in the roof of the house in Compton Beauchamp, near Faringdon, was already spreading to an adjoining thatched home when crews were called at 21:30 GMT on Wednesday.

The fire service said the fire took hold "very quickly". Crews were still at the scene on Thursday morning.

The cause is unknown and an investigation is under way.
