Nearly 4,000 runners pounded the streets of Oxford as they took part in the annual Town and Gown 10k.

The road race, which takes in the city's historic streets and the university parks, raises money for Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Author and media personality Christine Hamilton, the charity's ambassador, started the mass race from Keble Road.

It followed an earlier junior 3k race and wheelchair race. Organisers hope to match the £150,000 raised last year.
