A collection of rarely-seen works by artist John Piper have gone on display.

The exhibition at Henley's River and Rowing Museum includes String Solo an abstract painted in 1934, thought to be one of Piper's earliest works.

Drawings, ceramics and slides plus photographs of Piper working in his farmhouse studio in Fawley Bottom are also displayed.

The works have been donated to Henley's River and Rowing Museum by the Piper Estate.

Piper, who was made an official war artist in 1944, died at Fawley Bottom in 1992.
