Bodies found in dilapidated Oxford home 'unexplained'

Two women's bodies have been discovered following work to make safe a structurally unsound house in Oxford.

The first woman was found last Thursday at the house in Cowley Road, Littlemore. She is said to have lived there with her mother.

Following work to make the house safe, police found the body of a second woman in her seventies.

Police said the deaths were "unexplained", but there was nothing to suggest they were suspicious.

A post-mortem examination has failed to determine the cause of death of the first woman, so police will continue investigations at the property.

The house was deemed structurally unsound last week, and police had to wait until Thursday morning to resume their search following the discovery of the first body.

Police believe the two women found are mother and daughter.

They were called out to investigate the house after neighbours reported concerns.
