Five hundred tonnes of recycled timber is on fire at a farm in Oxfordshire.

Crews were called to Prospect Farm at Chilton, near Didcot, early on Wednesday where the wood was being stored for biofuel.

Officers spent the day trying to stop the flames from spreading to a nearby woodpile and surrounding hedgerows.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire could be seen from the A34 and urged drivers to take care where smoke was drifting across roads.

Firefighters are expected to remain at the scene into Thursday.
