A man has been charged with murder after a man was found fatally injured in an Oxford street.

The 39-year-old was discovered by officers in St Clements Street at about 20:45 GMT on Wednesday.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

A 29-year-old man from Oxford has been charged with murder and remanded in custody. He will appear before Oxford magistrates on Monday.

Thames Valley Police said a 36-year-old man, arrested after the incident, remains in custody but detectives were unable to question him on Saturday because he needed hospital treatment for a pre-existing medical condition.

Two 28-year-old women also arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail until January 2012.
