Oxford mosque evacuated after afternoon prayer fire

About 500 people were evacuated from a mosque during afternoon prayer when a fire broke out inside.

Emergency crews were called to the Medina Mosque in Oxford at 1330 GMT when smoke was spotted coming from a boiler room.

No-one was injured and the fire was put out.

Watch manager Matt Prentice said the incident highlighted the need for commercial premises with high occupancy to have a "robust" fire plan in place.
