Man arrested over armed bank raid in Watlington

A 45-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery on a bank in Oxfordshire.

A masked man, carrying what was believed to be a sawn-off shotgun, raided Barclays in Watlington's High Street on Thursday at about 1400 GMT.

Thames Valley Police said a burnt-out transit van, believed to have been used in the raid, was discovered in nearby St Leonard's church hall car park.

A gun has also been recovered. Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses.
