Oxford TV mast work to cause disruption

Tests on a television transmitter are set to cause signal disruptions across Oxfordshire and parts of Wiltshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire.

The work on the Oxford mast at Beckley is in preparation for the area's digital switchover in 2011.

Some viewers will experience daytime disruption between Monday and Wednesday.

Extra work on the transmitter was required after it was engulfed in fire in May when it was first turned on.

At the time, the firm that manages the mast, Arqiva, said the aerial was "damaged beyond repair".

A reserve aerial further down the mast was used whilst it was replaced.

A spokesman for Digital UK said the work next week would bring the mast preparations to a close.
