Firefighters have been working through the night to tackle a blaze at an industrial unit in Nottingham.

At its height, eight crews were dealing with the fire in Wigman Road, Bilborough, which was reported at 22:10 BST on Tuesday.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue said the disused warehouse was in the process of being demolished.

Several people were evacuated from an Army reserve centre in Wigman Road. No-one is thought to have been injured.

Residents were advised to keep their windows and doors shut during the fire.

Crews were still at the scene but a spokesman said the operation had been "scaled down".

Witnesses said the flames reached 10ft (3m) above the building.

The fire service said the cause of the blaze was not yet known but it has ruled out gas.
