Nottinghamshire police officer in court over misconduct charges

A police officer has made his first appearance in court charged with four counts of misconduct in a public office.

Det Con Simon Abell, 41, from Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire stood before magistrates for a brief hearing.

He is alleged to have sent sexually explicit text messages and behaved in a sexually inappropriate way between November 2011 and August 2012.

He has been bailed and will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 11 February.
