Gun used in Vernon Road post office raid

Two masked men armed with a knife and a gun have tried to rob a Nottinghamshire post office.

The raiders entered the branch on Vernon Road, Old Basford, at 10:10 GMT, armed with a handgun and a knife.

They demanded cash before fleeing empty-handed. No shots were fired and no-one was injured.

Police have appealed for witnesses and are particularly keen to trace a silver three-door car which left the scene along Bulwell Lane.

Officers are also carrying out house-to-house enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage.
