Man remanded after Nottingham special constable hit by car

A 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody after a special police constable was hit by a car in Nottingham.

The volunteer officer suffered a broken leg when she was hit on Shakespeare Street in Nottingham while responding to an altercation on Sunday.

Lee Ashton, of Mosswood Crescent, Bestwood, has been charged with wounding, burglary and theft.

He will appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 29 November.

The special constable has undergone surgery and remains in hospital.

The car involved was later found abandoned on Peel Street.
