Arrest over Nottingham special constable hit-and-run

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a Nottinghamshire Police special constable was hit by a car.

The officer who was on foot, was injured as she responded to reports of an altercation on Shakespeare Street in Nottingham at 02:30 GMT on Sunday.

A man got into a car which failed to stop after it hit her, police said. The car was found abandoned on Peel Street.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on Sunday night and remains in custody.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said the man would also be questioned on suspicion of burglary, theft and aggravated vehicle taking.

The special constable has undergone surgery for serious fractures to her leg and remains in a stable condition in hospital.
