Special police constable hit by car in Nottingham

A driver who ran over a special constable and failed to stop is being sought by Nottinghamshire Police.

The officer was on foot and responding to an altercation involving a group of men in Shakespeare Street, Nottingham.

One of the men got into a car which then hit her at about 02:30 GMT on Sunday. The car was found abandoned on Peel Street.

The special constable is being treated in hospital for injuries to her leg, which are not thought to be serious.

Police want to trace the driver of the vehicle. He is described as being in his late 20s to early 30s.

Part of Shakespeare Street, near the Mansfield Road and South Sherwood Street junctions, was closed while forensic examinations were carried out.

Officers also want to trace the men who left the area prior to the collision.
