Police probe duck shootings in Clipstone

A number of ducks have been shot dead at a Nottinghamshire park, prompting a police investigation.

The two ducklings and a mallard were found by rangers at Vicar Water Country Park, in Clipstone, over the past three weeks.

Nottinghamshire Police said it had received calls from members of the public about shots being fired in the park.

It is believed the birds had been shot with an airgun.

Suspicious activity

Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Keith Crowhurst said: "The shooting of wildlife in country parks is strictly prohibited and is a serious offence.

"This activity appears to be happening at twilight or after dark, with shots having been clearly heard by local residents.

"I would urge anyone who believes they know who may be doing this to pass that information on to us.

"That includes any details of suspicious activity or anyone with firearms seen around Vicar Water."
