Attempted robbery at Bestwood post office

Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Nottingham post office.

Officers were called to the premises on Andover Road, Bestwood, at about 1645 BST on Tuesday.

The offender entered the post office brandishing what witnesses described as a handgun and demanded cash.

After staff refused to hand over any money, he ran off in the direction of Gainsford Crescent. No-one was injured in the incident.

The man is described as black, about 6ft (1.83m) tall, and thin. The lower half of his face was covered and he wore dark clothing.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
